Why Is Double Cleansing Important?
Share
Easily one of the most important steps in any skincare routine is a thorough cleanse.
The double cleansing method has long been practised in countries like Japan and Korea as early as the 14th century. During this time, cleansing oils were the only means of removing the traditional paint-like makeup.
This technique remains the backbone for many K-beauty skincare routines, however, the double cleansing method has been modernised in recent times and is recognised as a popular skincare trend, but is it right for your individual skin type?
Breaking down the double-cleansing method
Put simply, double cleansing is a two-step technique that It involves using two different types of cleansers to ensure your skin is adequately prepped and deep cleaned before continuing with your skincare routine. Double cleansing isn’t a necessity, but certain skin types may find it to be more worthwhile than others. Whilst this method may support those who wear full coverage makeup or those who work outdoors and are exposed to environmental factors such as increased dirt, dust and debris, for some, a double cleanse may not be necessary.
It’s important to understand that no two skins are alike, and it’s crucial to know your individual skin type before hopping on the double-cleansing bandwagon. A consultation with a Skin Treatment Therapist is highly suggested to ensure you are using the right products that will work for your skin.
